Terms of use
The short version
- The game is free. You can explore without an account; you need to be 18 or over to sign in.
- Be decent to other players. No harassment, hate, sexual content, threats or scams.
- Moderators can remove messages and ban accounts that break these rules.
- The game is provided as it is, by one person, and may change or stop.
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and the person who runs jolly.land ("we", "us"), a free, non-commercial project. By using the game you agree to them. If you sign in, you're asked to agree to them and to the privacy policy, which explains how we handle your data.
2. Who can use it
- Anyone can explore the game world without an account.
- To sign in, and so to chat, use voice or save hunt progress, you must be 18 or over. By signing in you confirm that you are.
- You can't use the game if you've been banned from it.
3. Your account
- You sign in with a Google account. The account is for you alone. Don't share it or use someone else's.
- Choose an in-game name that isn't offensive, doesn't pretend to be someone else, and doesn't include personal details like a phone number.
- You can delete your account at any time from the Chat panel.
4. How to behave
Chat and voice are between people who meet in the game and agree to talk. When you use them, you must not:
- harass, bully, threaten or intimidate anyone, or keep contacting someone who has said no or blocked you;
- post or say anything hateful about people because of their religion, caste, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexuality, disability or similar;
- share sexual content, or anything sexual involving or aimed at a minor, which we report to the authorities;
- encourage violence, self-harm, terrorism or crime;
- share other people's personal information, or ask players for theirs (phone numbers, addresses, social accounts, money);
- scam, spam, advertise, or send people to other sites or apps;
- pretend to be someone else, including a moderator;
- record other players' voices, or share recordings or screenshots of their messages, without their permission;
- break the law, or share anything you don't have the right to share;
- cheat in ways that affect others, use bots or automation, scrape the game, or try to break, overload or get unauthorised access to it.
Stay safe. People online aren't always who they say they are. Don't share personal details or money, and think carefully before meeting anyone you've only met in a game.
5. What you post
Your messages belong to you. So the game can work, you allow us to store them and pass them to the people in your conversations, and to show them to moderators if they're reported, for as long as the privacy policy says we keep them. We don't use your messages for anything else.
Voice goes live to the people in your call and isn't recorded by us.
6. Reports, blocks and moderation
- You can block anyone, which hides you from each other in the game and ends any conversation between you. You can report any message sent to you.
- Moderators review reports. If a message breaks these terms, they can remove it, and they can suspend or permanently ban the account that sent it. Serious cases may be reported to the authorities.
- We don't watch conversations. We act on reports, so please report problems.
- If you think we got a decision wrong, email [email protected] and we'll look at it again.
7. The game itself
- The game is free and provided "as is". It's run by one person, so it may have bugs, go offline, change, or stop altogether. Features such as chat, voice and hunts may be changed or removed.
- Points, finds and hunt progress are part of the game. They have no money value and can't be exchanged for anything.
- Progress saved only in your browser (when you're not signed in) is lost if you clear your browser data, and we can't recover it.
8. Maps and other content
The game world is built from map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence. The rest of the game (its code, design, models, text and hunts) belongs to us or our licensors. You may play it and share links and screenshots, but please don't copy or reuse it without permission. Place names, landmarks and descriptions are for fun and may not be accurate. Don't rely on them to travel.
9. Our responsibility to you
We're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care. We're not responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable, for what other players say or do, or for the game being unavailable. The game is free and non-commercial, and we provide it only for personal, non-business use, so we're not responsible for any business loss.
Nothing in these terms limits responsibility that can't legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, or your rights as a consumer where you live.
10. Ending things
You can stop using the game and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we can stop running the game. We'll try to give notice if we do, where we reasonably can.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll update the date at the top and ask you to agree again the next time you sign in. If you don't agree, you can stop using the game and delete your account.
12. Law and contact
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts can hear disputes, but if you live elsewhere, you keep the protections of your local consumer law and can bring a claim in your local courts.
